International Landscape Photographer Of The Year 2024

Do you find yourself spending days or even weeks in the wilderness, patiently waiting for that perfect moment of light or tirelessly searching for the ideal angle? Or perhaps your landscape photographs stem from your imagination, where you spend a significant amount of time refining your vision into a work of art? At the International Landscape Photographer of the Year awards, we embrace a wide spectrum of approaches to creating breathtaking and diverse landscape photography. We acknowledge that photography is a form of storytelling, whether it be grounded in reality or born from fiction. Both approaches are valid and celebrated, as our annual awards book demonstrates our commitment to not restricting the creative freedom of our participants.

Now in its eleventh year, the International Landscape Photographer of the Year Awards aims to honor outstanding landscape photography. Our primary goal is for you to have one or more of your submissions included among the Top 101 landscape photographs of the year. This prestigious selection will not only feature in our exclusive online book, but it can also be purchased as a luxurious hardcover edition.

We offer a total of US$12,500 in cash prizes, printed copies of the book for major prize winners, and fantastic NiSi filter sets (details can be found in the rules). The process to enter is straightforward: your task is to captivate our panel of five judges, including last year's winner Tony Hewitt. To enter, simply resize your photo to 4000-5000 pixels on the longest side, save it in JPEG/JPG format, and upload it. The entry fee remains a reasonable US$25 per image, with a special offer: every fifth entry is free if submitted by 23 September 2024. The final deadline for submissions is 30 September 2024.

Once the competition closes, our judges will meticulously evaluate each photograph on calibrated monitors, scoring them out of 100. They may zoom in to inspect every detail pixel by pixel, especially for those images in contention for higher scores. The judges consider both technical proficiency and creative artistry equally when selecting the top awards.

After the initial judging phase, the top 101 photos are carefully reviewed for compliance with the rules, such as ensuring that no two images by the same photographer are too similar and that no photograph predates 1 January 2020. We also cap the number of entries a single photographer can have in the Top 101 to four, to ensure a diverse representation of talent.

Following this, a second round of judging takes place to determine the Photographer of the Year (1st, 2nd, and 3rd place), the Photograph of the Year (1st, 2nd, and 3rd place), and five special subject awards. This can involve two or three rounds of scoring and discussions before the final decisions are made.

We encourage you to prepare your best work for our eleventh awards and wish you the best of luck in the competition!

Warm regards,

Peter Eastway and David EvansInternational Landscape Photographer of the Year Awards
