Color possesses a unique and transformative power within the realm of photography. It can set the tone of an image, stir emotions within the viewer, or capture attention with striking immediacy. In our upcoming exhibition, Color + Space, we extend an open invitation to photographers to delve into the vibrant, nuanced relationship between color and the physical or conceptual spaces it inhabits. From wide-open landscapes bathed in golden light to minimalistic interiors where soft pastels quietly dominate, or even abstract works where color floats unanchored, we are seeking photographs in which color and space exist in thoughtful, visually compelling conversation.

We are particularly interested in how color contributes to the structure and story of a photograph. A burst of saturated red can command the eye and define a scene, while delicate tonal gradations can evoke a sense of tranquility, tension, or mystery. We invite submissions that explore how color functions not just decoratively but architecturally—shaping perception, enhancing spatial relationships, and offering new ways of seeing. From vivid to muted palettes, from crisp lines to flowing forms, let color become the lens through which space is experienced.

We are thrilled to welcome renowned curator Ann Jastrab as the juror for Color + Space. She will carefully select up to 35 photographs for exhibition in our Middlebury, Vermont gallery and an additional 40 works to be featured in our Online Gallery. All chosen works—75 in total—will be beautifully reproduced in the official exhibition catalog, archived permanently on our website, and actively promoted on social media, each accompanied by links to the photographers’ websites to offer continued visibility and recognition.
